I DECLARE WAR, by Levi Lusko

This book is a how-to book about overcoming one's "personal hang-ups" of various kinds. Levi Lusko, the author, starts his book with an Introduction. He spreads his book across four parts (which he calls "Cards") and thirteen chapters. Lusko ends his book with a Conclusion. He includes Acknowledgements, Appendix I and Appendix II. Lusko includes Notes, citing chapters for all the sources used for each chapter. He ends the book with an Author Bio. Levi Lusko has written a couple of best-selling books, THROUGH THE EYES OF A LION and SWIPE RIGHT. He is the lead pastor a a congregation Fresh Life Church in Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, and Utah.

I just finished this book. And it was what I expected. It is practical, challenging, interesting, and encouraging. The author, Levi Lusko, shares some of his own struggles with his own weaknesses and issues. And he shares very practical and simple steps to fighting the reader's weaknesses. These are those things that we like to call brokenness, human frailties, neuroses, and even psychoses. But Scripture calls most of these products of our hard wiring sin. I found this book full of good advice. But as with much good advice, the tips frequently are hard to implement as they go against our natures. In my case, it's fear, negativity, and anxiety that are my main enemies. In the case of fear, I would have to do what I fear to get rid of the fear. It all starts in our thought patters, as this author points out. I'm glad that Lusko includes handy Bible verses and other tools at the end of his book for handy reference. This is meant to be a "keep" book.

I recommend this book for all Christians at any stage of spiritual growth. It is great to use for small, even though it does not have a Discussion Guide at the end of the book. It is apparently not meant for non-Christians.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not requird to give a positive review of this book.
