RECLAIMING OUR FORGOTTEN HERITAGE, by Curt Landry

This is part a memoir and part-why to about the Jewish roots of the Christian faith. The author, Curt Landry, begins this book with an Introduction and a Forward. He spreads his actual content throughout 17 chapters. The he wraps up this book with Acknowledgements, an Appendix of prayers, Notes about sources the author consulted for this book. Each chapter begins with the Bible verse. Curt Landry, the author, travels with his wife to travel widely. They do much teaching and preaching with the aim of empowering believers to appreciate and embrace the Jewish roots of their faith. Curt Landry has also founded several ministries to and for the Jewish people, which include Curt Landry Ministries, House of David Ministries, and My Olive Tree.

Aware that Christianity is rooted it Judaism, this book met my expectations. Also, the title is self-explanatory. I found most of the book, the memoir part of it, interesting and informative. I grew up with the "replacement theology" that he mentions in one part of this book. That is the idea that before the Coming of Jesus, God's people were the Jewish people. But when Jesus came, died, rose again, and returned to Heaven, God "rejected the Jewish people because of their prior unbelief and rejection of His Son. He turned to Christians meaning we are "spiritual Jews." This is the "replacement" theology the author refutes. This has never been so, the author declares. The Bible itself states that God has not rejected the Jews. The Book of Hebrews in the New Testament is devoted to showing how Jesus has fulfilled Judaism. The rest of the book is pro-scriptive and smacks of what some may call the "Gospel of prosperity." But there is no refuting the success and wealth in and of themselves are not evil.

I recommend this book for all Christians to explore what it means that our roots or Jewish. I recommend it for anyone who is interested in Jewish culture for any reason. This book isn't written directly for Jewish people. But it may speak to them.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to give a positive review of this book.
