! THING YOU'RE WRONG, BUT I'M LISTENING, by Sarah Stewart Holland and Beth Silvers

This is a small volume of a book. It is a how to ad why to book about achieving civility and grace in our political discussion. Sarah Stewart Holland and Beth Silvers have written the book together. They open this book with an Introduction. They end their book with Acknowledgements, Author Bios, and Notes citing their sources for each chapter. The authors spread their actual content throughout two parts and ten chapters. Each chapter ends with questions meant to get the reader thinking about the points made in the chapter. Sarah Stewart Holland is the co-host of a talk show that focuses on a talk show. Beth Silvers hosts that same show with her.

I liked the honest impact of this book, which does not give easy answers nor does it try to. The authors do not pretend that their suggestions for applying their principles are easy, comfortable, or even natural. One of the authors represents the "Left" and the other author represents the "Right." The authors address the abortion debate and that there are no easy answers to dealing with it as it applies to our lives. Yet I suspect that those on either side of the debate, whether "pro-life" or "pro-choice," will not be happy with their approach. I would have liked the authors to address the Trump-Russia matter and the issues surrounding it. They do not deal with the issue of Bob Mueller and his mandate the investigate links between the 2016 Trump campaign, any links, and obstruction of justice in efforts to probe these. However, their book is as interesting, educational, challenging, and hopeful as I expected that it would be. Though this isn't a big book in size, it has major impact.

I recommend this book for anyone, regardless of faith, who wants to know how we can extend grace to others who differ from us, especially politically. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to be inspired to help heal the divide our deep political divide. If you are looking for black and white answers about the major social issues of today, this is not the book for you.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review of this book.
