SAVING A SICK AMERICA, by Dr. Michael L. Brown

This is a why-to and how-to book about how to win the "culture war," according to the author. Dr. Michael L. Brown holds a Doctorate in Eastern Languages and Literatures from New York University. Dr. Brown has served as a visiting or adjunct professor at seven top seminaries. He has written more than 25 books. Dr. Brown leads a ministry school. Its focus centers on world missions. He has preached and taught across America and across the world. He hosts a TV apologetics TV program and a radio talk show. Dr. Brown allows James Robison to do the Foreword for his book. He himself begins with a Preface. He spreads 14 chapters over three parts. His book ends with notes of sources, an index, a Scripture index of verses used in this book, and he ends with an author bio.

I knew just what to expect when I received this book. I already read another book written by Dr. Michael Brown. And I have often visited his Facebook page. And I'm familiar with his staunchly conservative and far-right leaning worldview. It is based on his own worldview as he interprets the Bible. Dr. Micheal Brown makes no pretense of trying "to be fair to both sides." I do agree with his views on the sanctity of human life and of marriage. And I know that these are core issues. Unfortunately, I cannot agree with him when he links conservatism with Biblical Christianity and the Republican platform with the Gospel. And, by implication, to support a Democratic platform is to be "radical left" and to defy and flout God's law and the Bible. I have come to be turned off to American, cultural Christianity when it became so tied to the Republican Party. In the Bible, there are no "religious right" or "progressive" Christians. There are only followers of Jesus.

Those who subscribe to a "religious right" worldview will will applaud this book. Anyone else will find something in the book to offend them. I recommend this book to anyone who is distressed over the moral decline in this society and want encouragement as to how to make a difference. Anyone looking for theology will be disappointed; this isn't a teaching book but a motivational book of Christian discipleship from a staunchly conservative worldview. I received a complimentary copy of this book through BOOKLOOK BLOGGERS, in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to give a positive review of this book.
