STORIES BEHIND THE GREAT TRADITIONS OF CHRISTMAS, by Ace Collins

This is a small volume, as most books about the Christmas season are. The front and back covers are red, in the spirit of Christmas. The author starts his material off with an Introduction. He then spreads his content over 26 total chapters. The book contains black and white illustrations. The book is mostly text, however. Information about the author is limited. No author bio has been included.

This may be a small book in size, but it is very informative as well as interesting. I was not aware of many of the stories behind our Christmas traditions until I read this book. Each story shows hoe each tradition points to stressing that Jesus is why we celebrate Christmas in the first place. Despite this, I doubt that even these well-reasoned and fascinating stories will change the minds of those who refuse to celebrate Christmas because it is a "pagan holiday." It may not persuade those who lament the crass commercialization of the holiday. The tone of the book does not indicate that the author is trying to change minds but to educate people. But it will give peace to all those Christians who, in good faith, celebrate the holiday for the purpose of marking the one and only birth of the God-Man. This book is a fast and easy read while it educates.

I recommend this book for all Christians at all stages of spiritual growth and walks of life because of the timeless message. It can point non-Christians to Jesus as well as deepen and strengthen Christian faith.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange of my honest review. I was not required to give a favorable review of this book.
