THE DAWN OF CHRISTIANITY, by Robert J. Hutchinson

This book is a historical, scientific study about how Christianity began. This author begins his book with two maps of the areas where the first Christians lived and spread the Gospel. Then he begins with an INtroduction as to what this book is about. He spreads his content in four parts and 27 chapters. He begins the chapters with verses from Scripture, which apply to each chapter. He includes black and white photos of materials which historians believed depicted Bible characters used or interacted with. This author concludes with two appendices of Biblical facts. He includes Acknowledgments of those who have made this book possible. He includes Notes, which cites Sources which he used for this book. Then he wraps it up with a Bibliography and Index. Robert Hutchinson is an award-winning author and writer who moved to Israel to learn Hebrew and holds a graduate degree in the New Testament. He has also written the book, SEARCHING FOR JESUS, a book which I likewise have read for review.

This book was not as historic as I expected. But it was interesting. First, Hutchinson devotes half of the book to Jesus' time on Earth. He brings the characters to life. This book is as much narrative as it is retelling the story from a historical perspective. His first book, SEARCHING FOR JESUS, was told mainly from a historical perspective. When I read about the early Christians, he brought them to life. He does such a good job, that I found myself thinking, "What has happened to us today? We are nothing like them." And, "Why does it so often take persecution to get the Church of Jesus Christ to to BE the Church?" But this book seems to be an amplification of the Bible. That is because it is based on Scripture and sound in theology, for the most part.

I recommend this book for anyone with an interest in religion. This book makes for interesting reading. Those without Christ may encounter Him in these pages. It's for Christians at all stages of spiritual growth. People who like history will love this book. Jesus is truly the most fascinating historical figure in all of history. And, as this book fleshes out, He is alive!

I received a complimentary copy of this book through Book Look Bloggers, in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to give this book a favorable review.
